MISSION SOS
MIRACLE VIDEO

Traveling so many thousands of miles, facing challenges, sometimes we can feel alone. You may be at home as we begin our trek to Rwanda & Burundi, but you are still with us. Last month, at a critical moment of the Dodoma Mission SOS Festival, I got this Facebook message from Christie Schwenk thousands of miles away, "Doing a 600 piece puzzle & found Bernie Gillott! I'm praying!"

Id Al-Fitr, (EID) celebrated at the end of Ramadan was also the climax of the SOS Festival. It is height of potential danger as misguided revelers breaking the 30 day fast can become violent. We needed prayer.

As wonderful as it is to know that Jesus is with us through the storms of life, it is reassuring to know that we have amazing partners like you who can find us- even in ONE single piece in a 600 piece puzzle.

We still don't have final numbers tabulated but more than 20,000 folks completed decision cards and thousands of Muslims confessed Christ on id Al-Fitr. While EID may mark the end of Ramadan in Islam, for many it was a new beginning for faith and new LIFE! God Bless you Johannes and the SOS MISSION teams.

~ ~ Singida District Council ~ ~

After SOS, we traveled 6 hours north of Dodoma to Singida. I was honored to join an amazing man of God, Pastor Jeff Leake of Allison Park Church & City Reach. He has planted over 38 churches and is engaged in an ambitious strategy, REACH NORTHEAST to plant another 100 churches.

There are 25 major cities in the Northeast where sixty-million Americans desperately need a community-changing church. His team has taken on the challenge. He communicated that vision in practical powerful ministry to these pastors. Rev Barnabas Mtokambali, General Superintendent of the Tanzania Assemblies of God. invited us to minister. I was honored to join him to share the word and music with hundreds of pastors at the Singida District Conference. What an honor to minister to these powerful pioneers.

Singida is located below the equator in the center of the Tanzania with a population in excess of one million people. Facing a significant drought for 4 years, it is one of the poorest regions in Africa with 346 villages and 10 indigenous tribes. The pioneering bishop right, (name withheld) came to Singida in 1975 to plant the first AG church. God used him to plant 75 churches. In the last 6 years, these churches planted 200 more.

Tanzania has a diverse religious and tribal demographic, 38% Muslim, 35% Catholic, 20% animist. Over 40,000 towns in Tanzania have no believing church. The Tanzania Assembly of God (TAG) has 6,200 churches and has planted more than 4,000 churches in the last 5 years. Dois Rosser and International Cooperating Ministries, a Hampton based ministry has partnered in the construction of 468 churches.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Rev. Troy Collier

BORN: June 30, 1928
HOME: July 28, 2015

My heart breaks in Africa to hear that a dear friend and an incredible pioneer for the Ministry of Teen Challenge has gone home to be with the Lord. I will miss his smile, boundless energy, prayers, love, and even his corny jokes, but I am delighted to know that he and his wife, Miss Bettye are standing together in glory receiving their eternal reward as the words "Well done, good and faithful servants." resound across the halls of Glory, In 1969, answering a call from God, he founded and pioneered Teen Challenge of Arkansas. Brother Wilkerson called him the Apostle Paul of Arkansas. No distance was too great, no need too overwhelming, no case too hopeless as he chased down hurting young people and addicts in need and ministered the power of God.

In 1978, after placing over 50 Tidewater young people in TC Centers in Arkansas, he left the security of Arkansas to pioneer Youth Challenge in Newport News, VA. Over the 25 years I have worked with him, both in Rehrersburg TC and Newport News, his example of integrity, courage and compassion are measured by more than the myriad of awards he has collected or the number of lives he touched. Only eternity with reveal the whole of it. I was not able to be at his memorial, but I know he would say, "Brother Bernie, go for the lost, go for the worst!” Brother Troy, I am grateful for all that you sowed in my life and the lives of my family, I will miss you as you join that great cloud of witnesses. ~ ~ REAL HEROES ~ ~.

What treasure to spend time with these amazing kids. On the street with us, praying, translating and just showing the love of Jesus Christ to Tanzania, these kids were such a blessing. I hated to leave them behind. Please pray for them and other missionary kids around the world that serve silently alongside their parents to minister the good news of the gospel

Their dad, Tanzania Missionary, Rev. Jeff Garrett has been an advocate for Teen Challenge in Tanzania for many years. We worked together first as he was coordinator for the Jimmy Jack Hope & Destiny Crusade. He did a tremendous job of organizing all of our logistics for this trip. Please keep him, his incredible wife Wendy and their family in your prayers as they continue their commitment to the nation of Tanzania

Why did Jesus have such an impact on unbelievers and common people? One simple answer is that He walked in compassion, heard people's deepest need and solved the problems that faced the people He met. He heard Father’s voice and brought heaven to every situation He encountered.

When Jesus met Peter, He solved his fishing problem. A simple command, let out your nets for a catch... not logical, not predictable but in the end It was more than the size of the catch, it was the size of the call that followed. Though many theologians question the wisdom of Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in law, it was likely because they had never tasted her matzoth balls and goat.

When faced with 5,000 hungry people in a desolate place, he supernaturally anointed his disciples so that five loaves and two fish became a feast for the multitude with 12 baskets of leftovers for the recycle bin.

When there was no way for the blind man to find his way out of the darkness, simply some spit and mud in the hands of Jesus, on the face of the blind man and suddenly the light has comes and sight is restored.

If we want to influence lives and culture, we need to listen closely enough to identify the needs, see clearly enough to recognize the problem, and walk powerfully enough to make a difference. Culture does not care who solves their problem, they as just seeking real solutions. If you are the source of solutions, you will gain influence through your love and action.

When Pharaoh had no answers, Joseph interpreted his dream and pointed the way. He had an answer when no one else knew where to turn. When Babylon languished in confusion, Daniel and the three Hebrew children became the most valued counselors in the courts.

When his ship was going down, the Apostle Paul prayers, heard and took a stand. He testified, there will be no loss of life, gave the instructions, and  though they lost their cargo, every single life was spared.

I know folks say, "people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care," but compassion without impact is empty sentiment. Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to change the culture?

Watch, listen, and with God’s help, solve a problem. Begin to work out your spiritual muscles so that when the opportunity comes, when a critical need comes, you are prepared. Walk poised to see hear the need, see the solution and act with God power. If you allow heaven to touch earth in all you do, you will see how God can use you to change the world.

~ ~ CHURCH PLANTING SCHOOLS~ ~

What an honor and privilege to minister at the dedication of Singida Church Planting School. TAG has taken the challenge to change their nation. Over 40,000 towns in Tanzania have no believing church. TAG has 6,200 churches, 32 planting schools, 7 Bible colleges and has planted

more than 4,000 churches in the last 5 years. While I was visiting, we discovered 4 ministries doing outreach to addicts and prostitutes using the Teen Challenge Curriculum. Meeting with TAG Executive, they have appointed at new TC Coordinator, Valentine Mbuke. He is ministering to 40 addicts in the City of Mwanza and Bishop Glorious Shoo in Dodoma has an outreach to prostitutes. Pray as we move forward for a November meeting.

~ Gladly, Mr President ~ ~

Imagine our surprise as our small single engine plane, taxiing into a private field in Dar es Salaam Tanzania, saw that President Obama had left Air Force One for us to keep an eye on.

It turns out that the president has a bigger airplane than we have, but we abide confident in our God ... He is bigger than all of the combined air forces of this earth ... in His love, compassion and power. I Love JESUS! #angelsROCK!

Look at the nations and watch and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if I told you. Habakkuk 1:5

Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven

FOCUS

for

AUGUST

Please pray with us for the safety of those that are carrying the gospel into the heavily populated Muslim areas. May the overwhelming accelerated growth be accompanied by fire and stability through God's word.

Pray for the completion of the schools, the church planting leaders that will come from Tanzania and surrounding nations and a cohesive strategy to integrate Teen Challenge training into their church planting model employing living free, evangelism and tools to reach the addicted in communities where the Tanzania Assemblies of God are reaching out

2) Rwanda/

By the time most of you get this we will be flying to Amsterdam, onto Mount Kilimanjaro and then into Kigali, Rwanda. We are truly excited to be ministering with Oklahoma City TC and Teen Challenge directors and global pioneers Shawn & Shannon Blankenship Who have partnered powerfully with Willie Ruminera to help establish the Rwanda center

Visit orphans who escaped from Burundi during the recent unrest.
Island of Ewawa to minister to the addicted.
Street outreaches in Kigali to the street children
Chanuka outreach on the Ugandan border.

2) BURUNDI

Also, please pray for the planned outreach, work on the streets, and the ministry as we look toward facilitating planting the first Team Challenge Burundi. Burundi, one of the world's poorest nations, is struggling to emerge from a 12-year, ethnic-based civil war.

Since independence in 1962 it has been plagued by tension between the usually-dominant Tutsi minority and the Hutu majority. Burundi was plunged into its worst crisis since the end of a civil war in 2005, when Mr Nkurunziza's ultimately successful bid for re-election to a third term sparked protests by opposition supporters who said the move was unconstitutional

According to All Africa, at least four people were reportedly killed on Wednesday night in Bujumbura, capital of Burundi, during gun battles between the police and an unidentified armed group.

“Two civilians were killed [after] being kidnapped by unknown armed group in Buterere and other two armed men were killed in Cibitoke after they attacked a police patrol van last night,” Pierre Nkurikiye, the deputy police spokesman, told Africa Review.

i3) THE HARVEST

Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 106 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 32 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
