After opening 2024 in Central America, from Costa Rica to Nicaragua, to Salvador, we headed to Nakuru, Kenya for a powerful time of ministry with MISSION SOS & evangelist Johannes Amritzer along with our 5 nation Africa team of 35 TC staff, students, and leaders.
We shared the gospel with over 75,000 people. Glory to God!

MISSION SOS NAKURU KENYA |

|
Returning from Africa, we landed, did laundry, packed, and headed to Winchester, Virginia for Victory Church's 7 day Kingdom-Builders Missions Conference. We are so grateful that for nearly 2 decades Victory Church has faithfully supported our ministry with Global Teen Challenge.
Back home, Bernie was back at the hospital for additional testing. An effective treatment protocol to eradicate the parasites in his lungs continues to elude specialists, but no matter what the doctors say, we know our miracle is in God's hands and we are continue to trust GOD for HIS purposes and HEALING. |

God moved powerfully in the schools, sober houses and on the street. The people of Nakuru were incredibly receptive to the gospel. We worked with so many great churches who stand daily against Satanic attack, culture and cults.
A major challenge in Nakuru is poverty. We ministered to street children addicted to glue and using drugs due to parental neglect and poverty. Many have joined gangs that engage in organized crime, the most notorious gang, "Confirmed." Early last year the police tried to take action against the gangs without success. |

CELEBRATING ALUMNI:
Remember George ? Still in the battle |

|
In 2018, Countryman found George on the street. He had been badly beaten. He rescued him and brought him to the TC center. After years of addiction, broken, & lost, he gave his life to Jesus Christ
and completed TC. |
 |
After graduation, George has continued to follow Jesus as he walks in transformation. He served at the TC ministry and has continued to grow as a living testimony of the power of God that changed his life. No longer a thief, an addict, or an alcoholic, his new smile is just a small part of the light that shines through his changed life.

Therefore, "Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28: 18 |

On Sunday we celebrated Palm Sunday. It introduces 7 days that changed the course of all human history. It began with the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem riding on a donkey with people waving palms and laying garments in the street, an honor reserved for conquering generals and kings. It announced to all that Messiah had come. A week that began in joyful celebration was interrupted by lies and false accusation, with an illegitimate sham trial, resulting in the unlawful execution of the sinless Jesus. But it would end with the joyful elation of Resurrection.
The gospel narrative in John chapter 12:13 describes the cheering throng as they wave the palms and shout,
“Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,
even the king of Israel.”
By shouting "Hosanna" [from Hebrew yasha ("save") + na ("now" or "please") -- "save now"], the crowd is pleading for Jesus to save them from Roman oppression and domination. The cry of “Save Now,” transcends a call for social justice, political freedom, or personal liberty. More importantly, it recognizes the need for deliverance from the burden of sin, law and the constant struggle to measure up to expectations which seem beyond our strength.
Earlier in chapter 12, John talks about a banquet with Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. We see curious onlookers with Martha, who, as always, is striving and serving. Lazarus reclines at the table enjoying his miracle with Jesus when suddenly the gathering is interrupted. |

Mary smashes a stone box filled with a pound of costly perfume of pure nard and anoints the feet of Jesus, wiping His feet with her hair. The house was suddenly filled with the fragrance of the perfume as people looked on in stunned silence. What could they say, what would Jesus say?
Judas and others, rather than celebrating the lavish love of her gift, criticized it as a reckless act of extravagant excess. He angrily retorts, “This could have been sold for 300 denarii.” The denarius was a silver coin used in the Roman Empire. It was equivalent to a day’s wage for a laborer, so 300 denarii was almost a year’s salary.
|
Judas mocks her devotion as foolish but Jesus defends Mary! “Let her alone,” says Jesus, “so that she may keep it for the day of my burial.”
The world is full of people that will criticize and judge you for a radical commitment to the King of Kings. Judas was most interested in what he could get from Jesus. Mary was focused on what she could give to Jesus. |
|
Judas cared
only what
he could get
from Jesus
 |
|
Matthew, the tax collector – a disciple with some understanding of finances and extravagance shares this story in his gospel, recalling that not only was Judas offended, but also other “disciples,” as he recalls the words of Jesus…
“'Why are you bothering the woman? For she has done a good deed for Me. Truly, truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” Matthew 26:13
Deeds
done in
LOVE
will live
FOREVER
|
|
You know Jesus was serious because He started HIS comment with"truly, truly…"
....that is Bible for … yo, ya’ll, best pay attention, 'bout to drop’ some heavy revvvy.
The alabaster box, made of stone, filled with precious oil, was a treasure often held as an inheritance for family. Once broken, the oil had to be used. Out of her brokenness, she radically surrendered everything. She gave, out of brokenness, all that she had.
|
She didn’t skim a layer pure nard off the top. She broke the box and out flowed a sweet fragrance that prophetically spoke of HIS death on the cross. It is always about the cross. The sacrificial love of Jesus calls us to a sacrifice of love in return, that is how the gospel works. One day, career success will be forgotten, academic achievements will be of no consequence and wealth will vanish, but deeds done in love will live forever.
Mary didn’t just give a little from her excess, she smashed the alabaster box and gave it all.
May I smash my 16 ounces of dignity and expectations in radical sacrifice to HIM.
... and so we fulfill the word Jesus spoke. ... "wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” No gift is too extravagant, no offering too great, no praise too excessive, in the light of HIS absolute sacrifice and magnificent love for YOU and for me. |

WE NEED YOU TODAY !!
As you look at all of this blank space, we need to fill it with ministry to help support our continuing international work. Would you please consider talking to your pastor about hosting us for a power packed service to share the Good News of God's love and the life transforming power of Jesus Christ. USA services are a life line to provide funding for these trips but more than that, we want to share this message with our own nation.

PRAYER
FOCUS
Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask,
it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven. |
|
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think according to the power that works within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Jesus Christ to all generations forever and ever. AMEN

1) TC HAITI
Ever since the earthquake in 2010, that killed over 200,000 and left 1.5 million homeless, life has been incredibly difficult in Haiti. In 2021, the president was assassinated, elections have been repeatedly postponed and the violence continues to accelerate. In 2023, over 8400 were killed, injured or kidnapped , an increase of 122% from 2022. There was even a direct attack on “Rendez-vous Christ Church,” the church pastored by Dr Julio Volcy, our Haiti TC president. Please pray for our TC Family in Haiti and for the people of Haiti as well--that peace, health and order will be restored, fair elections will be held and corruption will be eliminated.
2) Mission SOS in Maralal Kenya
Please pray for the Mission SOS leaders and the SOS Leadership School team as they are ministering in the streets of Maralal in Kenya. Please also pray for the upcoming Mission SOS festivals and outreaches through the summer and into the fall in Tanzania, Kenya and DRC Congo. Please also pray for wisdom for us as we assemble the team that will join us in Lubumbashi in September.
3) CANCER IS DEFEATED
Please continue to pray for Lynn Elder, longtime Teen Challenge author and teacher who has been undergoing rounds of chemotherapy in her battle against cancer. Last week they received the news that the cancer in her liver, neck to spine, lymph nodes and right lung is GONE! And the cancer in her left lung has decreased and shows “marked improvement.”. Everyone is elated, including the doctors and nurses. As Lynn undergoes her final chemo treatment, please join folks around the world as we pray for complete remission and healing.
4) Healing Prayer
Cathy & I appreciate your prayers as I continue to battle, trusting God for full and speedy recovery.
So grateful that "Jehovah Has the Final Say!" By HIS STRIPES I AM HEALED!
5) Mission SOS Lubambashi Congo, DRC
We are preparing for a return to CONGO with with MISSION SOS in the fall. We are building a multi-national TC Africa evangelism team to work on the streets, in schools, and Muslim Sober Houses as we partner with Johannes Amritzer and MISSION SOS. Please pray for provision and strategic insights as we reach out to new leaders in Zambia, Rwanda and other surrounding countries and for the needed finances and anointing in miraculous ministry.
|
6) VISION & WISDOM
Please pray for wisdom for our travel schedule through 2024. Thanking God that He will lead, guide and order our steps to the places He wants us to be.
We appreciate those who pray for us. As you have seen from the schedule, we face an incredible challenge with the number of trips back to back this year. But the opportunities were so significant and ministry needs were so compelling that we really felt led to step out in faith. Please pray that the Lord will speak to the hearts of people who will help to sponsor these flights.
7) In obedience to God’s Word . . .
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” ---

SWAHILI MISIC VIDEOS |

|
Filmed on location across Nairobi, Kenya from "the stones," to the Mathare ghetto with Wazito Films and director XBenjoes and his film team, we shot 4 music videos.
We are excited to share the Swahili versions of "His Love Endures Forever" and "Jesus Is My Lord and Savior." It was great to work with the Kenya Teen Challenge choir as well as local dancers and children from the ghetto. |
